The Recycling Process

Our complete e-waste recycling process ensures that your items are responsibly handled and recycled.

We are a zero waste/zero landfill operation.

Our Complete E-Waste Recycling Process

At TDR Recycle, we ensure that your electronic waste is responsibly handled and recycled. We are committed to a zero waste/zero landfill operation, making sure that all materials are processed in an environmentally friendly way.

On-Site Collection

Our team will come to your location to pick up your end-of-life equipment or recycling collection bins and totes. Our drivers and staff are trained to handle your assets and data securely at every step of the process.

Secure Transport

Transporting sensitive electronic recyclables requires safe handling, and our trained asset handlers ensure that your electronics are safely transported. We manage the logistics of pickup and delivery, making sure your e-waste arrives securely at our facility.

Sorting

E-waste contains a variety of materials such as plastics, glass, and metals, and our recycling process involves several steps to efficiently recover these resources. First, electronic items are manually sorted. Some items are shredded to reduce their size and make material recovery more efficient, while others—such as fluorescent lights, batteries, or hazardous materials—are processed separately to avoid harm.

Depending on the Material, the Following Processes May Be Used:

  • Refurbishing

  • Data Destruction

  • Dismantling and Processing

Refurbishing

Products that are still in good condition but may need minor servicing or part replacements can be refurbished. This sustainable option keeps usable items out of landfills and gets them back into the hands of people who need them.

Remarket/Reuse

After securely removing data from electronics, these products can be reintroduced into the marketplace, extending their life cycle and keeping them out of landfills for as long as possible.

Data-Bearing Devices

For devices like computers, servers, tablets, and phones, securely destroying personal and confidential information is crucial. TDR Recycle ensures that your data is properly handled while keeping these devices from ending up in landfills or, worse, in the wrong hands.

Secure Data Destruction

Different methods and levels of destruction are available based on your requirements and industry standards. We use the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) method to sanitize hard drives and electronic media, ensuring complete removal of data from readable drives. Damaged drives are shredded to prevent data retrieval.

Dismantle & Process

Electronic items are reduced in size by shredding or crushing, breaking them down into fragments. These fragments are then separated using magnets to remove steel and iron, while other methods are used to separate non-metallic materials from metals such as aluminum, brass, and copper. Plastic and glass are separated using water. CRTs (cathode ray tubes), which contain hazardous materials like lead, are processed separately to prevent exposure to humans and the environment.

Recycle

Once separated and cleaned, materials like metals, plastics, and glass are sold or sent to downstream recyclers, where they can be repurposed into new products.

Reporting

The final step in the recycling process is detailed reporting. We provide a comprehensive report that includes information on the assets removed from your business, how and when they were processed, and a certificate of recycling or destruction.
